    Quick Overview

"Back at the, a cup of coffee beside my typewriter, I find myself drifting away from the work in front of me, my brain trying to figure out what's going on. But it’s impossble. There's no foundation, no previous experience upon which my mind can construct any kind of hypothesis. I asked for it, I have to admit. And whatever it is, it's happening. All I seem able to do is try to hold myself on even keel and ride it out. Thinking about it is exhausting, so I drop it, gratefu, I'm facing yet another attempt at the A Bird on the Wing introduction, thankful there's something to occupy my mind...

No sooner are my fingers poised above the keys than the upward pull starts again. Closing my eyes, I go with it. Once more there is the feeling of inner levitation, the sensation of boundless space. And then comes the voice: "This is the edge of the ocean of bliss. Jump!" As before, I try and can't, try and cant, and then, on the third attempt, I jump. Like a diver soaring off a board I plunge into myself, falling deeper and deeper, until there is simply silence.

Into the silencIe everything has beeen absorbed: my mind, body , everything, and only two things remain: witnessing and breathing. And with nothing else within or withou, with all else gone, I watch my breath in and ou, in and out, in and out. The more my attention focuses on my breath, the higher my awareness rises until, suddenly, I observe something new, stagggering in its immensity I am not breathing Not that my breathing has stopped; it is still very much there, but the breathing comes from somewhere outside me. It comes from somewhere distant, penetrating me, entering the mechanism of my lungs, feeding me, nourishing me. But I don't breathe! I am being breathed. Existence is breathing me!

And I see that we are not separate, we are one! joined together by a common breath, we are one!"
